It’s not looking good for some superheroes lately, as a Supergirl movie may be about to get cancelled just like Batgirl.
The Batgirl movie was recently canned by Warner Bros just a few months before its planned release date. The movie apparently did not perform well at screenings, and it was shelved. Warner `Bros stated that the decision is due to a new strategy they’re employing at the company.
And now, it seems that Supergirl could be heading in the same direction. An insider familiar with the film said that the film, which is currently in development, isn’t “likely to move forward”. It’s expected to be cancelled just like Batgirl, though no official announcement has been made.

Supergirl was expected to make her first appearance on the big screen in the upcoming film The Flash. The film, starring controversial actor Ezra Miller, is still planned to release in 2023. But Supergirl, who was going to get her own movie too, may no longer appear in the film.
Superhero Shake-up
And the Supergirl movie itself is seemingly on the way out, following a major shake-up at Warner Bros. It would have starred Sasha Calle as Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl. But in the wake of this shake-up, many superhero movies may no longer make it to release day.
Other superheroes who might not make it include Black Canary, played by Jurnee Smollett, and a Blue Beetle movie. The biggest DC movies, like Joker 2 or the upcoming Aquaman 2 and The Flash could manage to withstand the shake-up. But The Flash is in trouble for different reasons involving the real-life actions of its main star.
It’s certainly not looking great for a lot of DC properties. Hopefully some of these projects end up seeing the light of day amidst this current Warner Bros strategy switch-up.
