The director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has left CD Projekt Red following accusations of bullying at the studio, according to Bloomberg.

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz was previously the subject of a lengthy bullying investigation by the company, of which he was found not guilty. However, despite being cleared of the accusations, the director issued an email to staff stating that he was stepping down.
In the email, Tomaszkiewicz announced the commission’s verdict while adding the following: “Nonetheless, a lot of people are feeling fear, stress or discomfort when working with me.” He then apologised “for all the bad blood I have caused.”

It’s needless to say that Konrad Tomaszkiewicz played a prominent role in the success of The Witcher 3. The series’ third outing, based on the books of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, has since been adapted into a popular Netflix show, while the game itself has won various awards. Tomaszkiewicz was also set to play a significant role in the next Witcher game after previously being credited as “head of production” on Cyberpunk 2077.
In a comment provided to Bloomberg, Tomaszkiewicz claimed he was “sad, a bit disappointed and resigned”. While CD Projekt Red has yet to pass comment on the situation, the director’s staff email also included a promise of self-reflection and change:

“I am going to continue working on myself. Changing behaviour is a long and arduous process, but I’m not giving up, and I hope to change.”
Tomaszkiewicz’ departure from CD Projekt Red is just a part of the company’s series of unfortunate events. As you probably already know, Cyberpunk 2077’s launch state caused various issues for the company, which subsequently wiped out its share gains.

The Polish developer also suffered a massive cyberattack back in February, which leads to source code for the company’s games being sold on the black market.
