Japan now has an awesome Super Nintendo World train to celebrate the forthcoming opening of its theme park at Universal Studios Japan.
The train is a welcoming sky blue colour, complete with the Super Nintendo World branding. It features all your favourite characters from the beloved brand, along with images of the park itself.
The wonderful train runs on the JR Yumesaki train line in Osaka, and will take commuters straight to Universal Studios Japan, the home of Super Nintendo World.
Sadly, the opening of Super Nintendo World has been delayed due to the global pandemic.
The Super Nintendo World theme park was supposed to open in 2020, before being delayed to February 4th due to the global pandemic. It’s since been delayed indefinitely.
The decision to delay the opening of the park followed a state of emergency after Japan had reached over 300,000 COVID-19 cases.
Universal Studios said in a statement: “We sincerely apologize to all the guests and stakeholders who are looking forward to the opening of Super Nintendo World for their concern. The new opening date will be decided and announced after the state of emergency is lifted.”
According to the official Universal Studios Japan press release (thanks, Kotaku), organisers of the theme park wanted the Super Nintendo World train to still go ahead in the hope that it would put smiles on faces.
However, while no one will be visiting Super Nintendo World anytime soon, we can at least pretend we’re there with this basic virtual tour!
Are you jealous of this incredible Super Nintendo train?
