A fan has created a Resident Evil: Village demake inspired by the retro classic Castlevania and the results are amazing.
Residentvania is created by Florin Oco and, impressively, was developed in just two months. Every asset in the demake is custom made. Best of all, the game is awesome and totally free.
‘The first thing I thought while playing “Resident Evil: Village” was how much it reminded me of “Castlevania”, so I thought I’d make a mashup of the two,‘ posted Florin on the itch.io page. ‘I chose the first level of the original “Castlevania” for NES, mixed in with the Castle Dimitrescu section of “RE: Village”.‘
Pure retro goodness!

The game sees a pixelated Ethan Winters fight, jump and smash his way through Castle Dimitrescu. In the gameplay video, we also see Moroaicǎ ghouls and some very hyperactive Lycans. At the very end of the game, we are then greeted with the presence of the wonderous lady herself.
Not only is the game totally free to download and play, but the download size is only 33MB. So hopefully, it should be able to run on most PCs. You can download Residentvania here.
Have you downloaded and played Residentvania yet? If so, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the game across our social media channels. I’m hoping that we’ll see new stages in the near future.
In our review of Resident Evil: Village, we said: ‘barring remakes, Resident Evil Village is the best entry in the series since Resident Evil 4.‘ Resident Evil: Village is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Google Stadia.
