We forgive you Batman.

Thor: Love and Thunder’s Christian Bale is only just learning what the MCU is

Thor: Love and Thunder star Christian Bale didn’t know what the MCU was before taking up the role as Gorr the God Butcher.

During an interview with Total Film, the Batman Dark Knight star admitted that he “had to ask” what the Marvel Cinematic Universe was after being cast as the villain in the upcoming movie.

It’s fair to say that Christian Bale’s most popular role ever was playing Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. When asked if he had any doubts about playing another comic book character, Bale said: “absolutely not, no.

Bale Stars in DC and Marvel movies

I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU!” added Bale. “And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered sh-t, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.

In the same interview, Bale even revealed that discussions had taken place with movie director Taika Waititi (who also plays Korg) over a potential dance scene to the music of “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God”) from artist Kate Bush.

There’s obviously sort of a Nosferatu slight attitude. Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, which we didn’t get to do, but we had all this sort of Kate Bush stuff that we worked at,” said Bale.

But I think he just realised he was never going to be allowed to put that in the final film. I would say that the most common thing I was staring at was the Aphex Twin video of ‘Come To Daddy’. But I don’t even know if that will be in the final film.

We want to see that dance!

We can forgive you for not knowing what the MCU was. However, I’m not sure we can forgive you for not having a dance in Love and Thunder. So, can we get a Thor, Jane, Korg and Gorr dance scene, please? All will be forgiven.

You can see Christian Bale can friends in Thor: Love and Thunder when it arrives in cinemas next month on July 8th, 2022.
