Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2 is one of the best shooters of the generation (if not all time) and – thankfully – the 2016 cult hit is finally getting the recognition it deserves. The game was recently announced as one of the PlayStation Plus “free” games for the month, and it’s since seen a much-deserved surge in its number of players.
The stellar FPS saw a bit of a leap in interest when Apex Legends, the free-to-play battle royale set in the same universe, was released earlier this year. However, the playerbase numbers never even came close to what Titanfall 2 really deserves.
Over on Reddit, a user by the name of JuniperSniper shared the following image in a now-very-popular thread, calling for more people to jump into a game of Titanfall 2.
As you can see, the user snapped an image showing a mammoth 68,037 players online which is seriously impressive for a game that’s now two years old.
JuniperSniper wrote in their post: “As some of you may know, Titanfall 2 is available on PlayStation Plus. The game is amazing and it’s wonderful to see it truly alive once again.
“If you haven’t played the game, you really really should. The singleplayer [sic] and the multiplayer are both amazing.
“I truly hope that this keeps the game alive for a long long time.”
It’s not known whether or not Titanfall 2 will soon suffer a fall from grace, but in the meantime it’s never been a better time to check out the iconic shooter.
Titanfall 2 is available to download for free for PlayStation Plus subscribers until around the first week of January. It’s yours to keep for as long as you subscribe, and it features both a single-player campaign and multiplayer too, so there’s something for everyone.
