Toilets In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Have A Secret Function

Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been giving players the relief they needed during the global lockdown, but the game is providing more relief than expected with its toilet item.

Players who’ve added a toilet to their ever-expanding home probably already figured out that it’s a somewhat functional item rather than just decorative. You can sit on toilets which then brings up the text: “And that takes care of that!”

But it’s not just a cheeky little poo joke…at least not according to AC’s very own Tom Nook. According to the man himself, the toilets in AC actually work to drain your strength, which is acquired by eating fruit.

Lemme explain. When you eat fruit in AC: NH, you’ll gain enough strength to do things like break rocks, but using the toilet will actually lower your strength back down just in case you’ve had one peach too many.

Sharing the revelation on Twitter, Nook said: “[Life Advice] Perhaps you’ve eaten a bit more fruit than necessary? Yes, yes, then just have a seat on a toilet, and that will take care of that.”

So there you have it. Did you know this was a thing, because I’m 100 hours into AC and had absolutely no idea…

Speaking of AC: New Horizons, the game has reached a huge sales milestone despite launching just a few weeks ago.

In Japan, New Horizons has sold over 2.8 million copies since it launched on March 20. Putting that in perspective, the ever-iconic Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold roughly the same amount since its launch back in 2017.

Well done, AC!

The game has been credited for helping people to escape and unwind during the incredibly stressful times brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
