2020 has been an excellent year for indie games, with titles like Fall Guys, Among Us and Hades creeping into the top ranks of Twitch streams. Now it seems like another PC hit is also making a splash on Twitch: Raft, by Redbeet Interactive.
In case you’re not familiar with Raft, the game landed on Steam back in 2018, where it’s remained in Early Access ever since. Developed by Redbeet Interactive and published by
Axolot Games, Raft is an ocean adventure where the aim is to survive the dangers of the wild.
“By yourself or with friends, your mission is to survive an epic oceanic adventure across
a perilous sea! Gather debris to survive, expand your raft and be wary of the dangers of
the ocean,” says the game’s description.
“Trapped on a small raft with nothing but a hook made of old plastic, players awake on a vast,
blue ocean totally alone and with no land in sight! With a dry throat and an empty stomach,
survival will not be easy!
“Raft throws you and your friends into an epic adventure out on the big open sea, with the
objective to stay alive, gather resources and build yourself a floating home worthy of
survival.”
At the time of writing, Raft is seeing a lot of love on Twitch, where it’s currently tagged as a “Trending” game and has over 600,000 followers.
Fans can’t seem to get enough of Raft, with the still-in-development title already sporting a Recent Review score of “Overwhelmingly Positive” on Steam.
What we have of Raft is already wowing the players, but Redbeet promises there’s even more to come once development is complete.
“The Early Access version introduces a solid foundation for Raft. Now with your support, we plan to build an even more unique and exciting experience filled with fun moments and perilous adventure,” says Redbeet on Steam.
“First, we plan to dust off our compasses and embark on an epic quest with the introduction of landmarks; players will gather clues, set their coordinates and raft towards mysterious destinations! Players will discover stranded ships, sunken cities and caverns filled with treasure, including blueprints for crafting new weapons and equipment! Additional wildlife and other dangers will bring more challenge and new ways to defend your raft. You might even discover a stray animal to accompany you on your journey…
“Equally exciting is our plan to offer players complete creative freedom in Creative Mode, a relaxing experience where supplies are unlimited and danger all but removed. Coupled with Steam Workshop integration, Creative Mode will allow you and your friends to really express your craftsmanship together! Above all, we promise to use the Early Access period to listen to you and your feedback in order to develop Raft towards a combined vision.”
