Everyone in the whole world is excited for the upcoming Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a remastered and revamped version of the first three games in the series is headed for next-gen consoles.
As we get closer and closer to the launch date, more details are emerging about the game, and according to reports on Twitter, the eagerly-anticipated trilogy might not be completely what it seems…
@Nibellion tweeted to say: “Spyro 2+3 are not on the game disc of the Spyro Reignated [sic] Trilogy; the have to be downloaded.”
He accompanied the tweet with a screenshot of the game’s info, which clearly states: “Games 2 and 3 require download via internet.”

So, several possible explanations for this:
– They did this on purpose (lol no)
– The file sizes of the games are too big (possible)
– Only game 1 was ready to get printed on disc and they couldn’t push the date any further without causing problems (probably this)— Nibel (@Nibellion) August 1, 2018
Delving into some of the reasons as to why Activision and the Spyro team may have decided to only include a physical copy of the first game, @Nibellion added some of his ideas on the decision saying: “So, several possible explanations for this:
” – They did this on purpose (lol no)
” – The file sizes of the games are too big (possible)
” – Only game 1 was ready to get printed on disc and they couldn’t push the date any further without causing problems (probably this).”
Spyro fans weighed in on the Twitter thread to discuss what the digital downloads really mean. One user speculated: “It forces people to get it new. That is why they are doing this.”
Fans are pretty disappointed with the news, expecting a physical copy of all of the games either on a single disc or multiple.
What do you think about the digital downloads for the second and third Spyro games? Will you still be picking up the game?
The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is due to release on 21st September 2018.
If you’re still eagerly awaiting the game’s launch then here’s some footage of the gameplay…hopefully it will tide you over until September!
