Ubisoft has announced a new ‘The Division’ game

Ubisoft has announced ‘The Division Resurgence’, a new free-to-play mobile game, for Android and iOS devices.

Ubisoft has announced ‘The Division Resurgence’, a free-to-play mobile game and recent entry within the Tom Clancy Division franchise. The Division Resurgence will have you play as agents of the Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) as they are deployed in New York City.

Canonical to the events of The Division and The Division 2, players can play solo or co-op with others while protecting the civilians of New York against enemy factions in all-new PVE modes.

The Divison Resurgence will feature a new storyline, villains and factions and will keep the core mechanics of the Division games players of the series will be familiar with.

WILL THERE BE MICROTRANSACTIONS?

When a new free-to-play game is announced, microtransactions are bound to follow. The nature of free-to-play means the developers need to fund the game elsewhere. A lot of mobile games feature cosmetics, battle passes and better loot all charged to the player separately.

This can sometimes be purely cosmetic based, meaning the player doesn’t have to spend extra money. Some games are notorious for their microtransactions and play-to-win systems.

With the announcement of The Division Resurgence, Ubisoft has yet to discuss exactly what kind of microtransactions will be involved. But their history doesn’t bode well for the new game in the Tom Clancy franchise.
