The Undertale theme music was played at an audience with the Pope. Though I doubt the Pope knew what he was listening to.
As reported by VG247, the music of Undertale was performed at An Audience with the Pope event in Rome, Italy. The theme music was performed via a stage show by an Italian circus.
The circus show begins with fire juggling antics at 53:28 into the video above. However, the fan favourite ‘Megalovania’ Undertale theme begins at 1:04:40. The performance itself is very entertaining, whether you’re an Undertale fan or not. That said, we can only speculate whether Pope Francis is a fan of the indie darling.
The Pope and Undertale have a history

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that the Pope and Undertale have had a connection. In 2016, MatPat, host of the YouTube channel “Game Theory” was invited to a Vatican summit. The summit in question was to discuss how the internet “brings people together.” It was at this Vatican summit that MatPat gave the holy one a copy of Undertale.
What’s next for the Pope and Undertale? So far, we know he’s been given a copy of the game and now he’s enjoyed an Undertale themed circus performance. Could an Undertale “Let’s Play” livestream be on the cards? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Do you think the Pope has ever played Undertale? Let’s speculate across our social media channels.
