New rumours are making the rounds once more that Warner Bros games could be up for sale. But how true are the rumours?
Rumours of Warner Bros. selling its video games division appeared back in 2020. At the time, Electronic Arts was the company being name-dropped most likely to make the acquisition.
Furthermore, in 2021 additional rumours suggested that Warner Bros would consider selling Mortal Kombat and Injustice studio, NetherRealm, as well as LEGO developer, TT Games. Obviously, none of those rumours came to be.
However, the latest rumours of WB Games being up for sale are courtesy of Fanbyte news editor, Imran Khan. “Couldn’t get enough confirmation to actually write a post about it but hearing a decent bit of chatter this week about WB Discovery shopping their game development studios around,” tweeted Khan.

Who could buy WB Games?
Khan then went on to suggest that the likes of Sony, Microsoft, Take-Two and EA could step up to buy Warner Bros’ video games division. Tencent, Netease as well as PUBG Corp were also thrown into the speculative hat.
Interested parties include EA, Take-Two, Microsoft, Sony, Tencent, Netease, and PUBG Corp. WBD wants to sell studios and license IP, supposedly.

WB Games being bought out could be huge because not only will the potential buyer claim the rights to Mortal Kombat, Injustice and the LEGO series, but also the Batman Arkham franchise.
Obviously, these are mere rumours, so they must be taken with a pinch of salt. That being said, there are a lot of big studios being acquired lately, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that WB Games could be next.
