Despite the launch of the PS5 still being a few weeks away, you can already buy custom faceplates for the console.
When the PlayStation 5 was first revealed, there were many that wanted the console to be in the customary black instead of being dominated by a white shell. However, thanks to websites like PlateStation5, fans can now have the all-black console that they desire.

At the time of writing there are five different faceplates available, including Limited Edition V1 Matte Black (which will probably be a best-seller), Chromatic, Cherry Red, Jungle Camo and Indigo Blue. Each faceplate is priced at $39.99.
The faceplates ship to various countries across the world, including the UK where the faceplates cost just £32 and that includes free shipping, which seems like a great deal to me. However, it is worth noting that these faceplates are “unofficial third-party accessories” and PlateStation5 states that they “are not affiliated in any way with Sony.”
The faceplates are available for both the disc and digital-only PlayStation 5 consoles and they cover both sides on the consoles (or top and bottom depending on how you place your console).
It is also worth keeping in mind that the images used on the website are 3D renders and not actual photos of the product. Until the console releases and we see these plates in the wild, there’s no way of knowing for sure how good they look or how well they’ll fit.
GameByte mocked up our very own faceplates which are definitely looking like a snazzy bunch if I do say so myself!

It’s also likely that at some point Sony may sell their own officially licensed faceplates for the PlayStation 5 console, based upon first-part exclusives. After all, it’s not the first time Sony has sold officially licensed faceplates, as they were available for the PlayStation 4.
