While many fans were hoping that Twilight Princess, Wind Waker or even Ocarina of Time might be coming to the latest Nintendo console, it’s Skyward Sword that’s getting the love this time around.

As revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct (February 17), Skyward Sword will be coming to the handheld console on July 16, 2021.

In case you never played, Skyward Sword was meant to be the game that made full use of the Nintendo Wii. Sword motions were dictated by the way you moved the Wiimote, but it wasn’t as successful (or as fun) as was touted.

It was one of many reasons why Skyward Sword failed to reach the (Sky)lofty heights that Ocarina and Wind Waker did. Still, Skyward Sword is a fantastic Zelda game, and I’m sure its motion controls will translate much better to the Switch and its Joy-Cons. Speaking of, new Joy-Cons will also be available!

The game’s official description reads as follows: “The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword boasts realistic sword combat, turning every encounter into a challenge of both brains and brawn. Soar, dive, and battle as Link™ in an epic quest that lays the foundation for the events in the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™.”

Will you be picking up The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword when it swoops down onto Nintendo Switch?
