Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has largest file size of any first-party Nintendo Switch game

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has the largest file size of any first-party Nintendo Switch game ever.

Earlier this week, we were treated to some brand-new gameplay for the Breath of the Wild sequel. The sequel seems to retain much of Breath of the Wild but looks to be bigger and better than its predecessor.

What’s more, with this sequel seemingly being bigger and better, so too is its file size. As reported by IGN, the Nintendo eShop states the file size for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes in at 18.2GB.

IGN also compares the Tears of the Kingdom file size alongside other Nintendo Switch first-party titles. For example, Breath of the Wild is 14.4GB, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is 14.38GB, and Fire Emblem Engage is 12.68GB.

Compared to other file sizes on other consoles, 18.2GB is tiny. Especially when the likes of Call of Duty is in access of 100GB. What’s more, open-world PlayStation exclusive, Horizon Forbidden West is also currently hovering around 100GB.

However, when you consider that the internal storage for the Nintendo Switch OLED model is 64GB and just 32GB for the original console, a nearly 20GB file size is a large chunk of the internal storage. Thankfully, MicroSD cards are quite cheap nowadays, so it might be worth an added investment if you haven’t done so already.

In related Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom news, resellers have already swiped stock of the Collector’s Edition and are selling it for inflated prices on auction websites.
