According to a prominent Nintendo leaker, fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons can expect a small holiday themed update soon. There are no specific details on dates of when the update might drop, but with Christmas just around the corner, it’s likely to be sooner than later.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons released a major DLC at the start of November. The update, titled Happy Home Paradise, introduced the ability to create vacation homes. The DLC released alongside a new update that also added a number of new features, including the ability to view the world in first person.
The rumoured holiday update would be much smaller in size, adding only a few seasonal items to coincide with the holidays. Last Christmas, players took part in a toy day event that ran on Christmas Eve for 24 hours. During the event, players performed a specific set of tasks for Jingle the Reindeer, which rewarded them with Christmas-themed furniture items.
Leaker Samus Hunter tweeted about the update earlier this week. According to the leaker, the update could bring back the items from last year, alongside some new items as well. The Happy Home Paradise update added a number of new items, and the ability to cook, so it’s likely we can expect some festive recipes in the rumoured update.
Happy Home Paradise was Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ first major paid expansion. However, Nintendo has stated that it doesn’t intend to continue supporting the game going forward. Speaking to IGN, a spokesperson said “This is the last major free update and the paid DLC will be the only paid DLC for this title.”
Elsewhere, Nintendo has joined PlayStation and Xbox in condemning Activision Blizzard’s allegedly toxic workplace culture. Nintendo Of America President, Doug Bowser sent an internal email addressing the situation to the entire company.
