Another Uncharted 5 Rumour Is Making The Rounds

Before we get into this one, I’d just like to make it clear that I’m a MASSIVE fan of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, and as much as I’d love to see another Nathan Drake adventure, I just don’t think there needs to be one. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ended in a pretty much perfect way. Does that mean a spin-off game would be unwelcome? No. But just no more Nathan Drake, please.

Rumours of an Uncharted 5 pop up every once in a while, but it’s been a while since we last heard a supposed “update” on the unconfirmed game. The leak comes from HappyGamer, who references a Reddit leak that I couldn’t find anywhere so…yeah, big grain of salt for this one.

The unverified source is reportedly claiming that UC5 is in development and is set to be dropping on the upcoming PlayStation 5. Unlike previous mainline games in the UC series, the rumour claims UC5 is being developed by another Sony studio, and not Naughty Dog.

There’s only been one Uncharted game that hasn’t been developed by Naughty Dog: Uncharted: The Golden Abyss, which was developed by SIE Bend Studio and launched on the PS Vita.

The leak also claims that the game will be dropping in 2021, which seems a little soon for a game series as popular and as huge as Uncharted.

Personally, I don’t think we’re going to be getting an Uncharted 5. A spin-off title, like The Lost Legacy, would be an awesome thing to explore. But more adventures of Nathan Drake? I can’t imagine it happening.

GameByte interviewed Nathan Drake actor, Nolan North, during MCM ComicCon Scotland last year, where we talked about the Uncharted movie which at the time had just suffered another delay.

Speaking of the movie role, Nolan said: “People always, fans especially, say ‘you should play Drake!’ And I’ve played Drake. I’ve done it, been there, done that. And I cannot play Drake in his 20s, I can’t play anybody in his 20s anymore.”

Whether or not he feels he could play Drake in another video game remains to be seen.
