Ben Affleck’s Batman will be in Aquaman 2, Jason Mamoa reveals

The era of Batfleck has been an interesting one. As he steadily went from being the writer, director and star of The Batman to not being involved in the 2022 solo film at all, it seemed like Ben Affleck’s time as the caped crusader was about the fully end after a stint in the 2023 The Flash movie. Now however, DCEU co-star Jason Mamoa seems to have accidentally revealed Ben Affleck’s Batman is returning in Aquaman 2, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

On Mamoa’s Instagram, the Aquaman star posted a couple of charming side-by-side snaps featuring himself and Affleck. Although brimming with bromance energy, it’s the end of Mamoa’s caption and video of the post that raises eyebrows.

In the video, it appears that both actors ran into a Warner Bros tour group at the studio’s lot. In response, after Affleck appeared to go back to his trailer, Mamoa outright says “Well, it’s not a f***ing secret anymore, is it?! Sorry, children. Well, that’s what happens, Warner Bros, when you walk out of your set, and there’s our fans!”.

It’s all said in good spirits, with Mamoa even reiterating, “well, we even tried to keep it a secret!” before laughing on back to Ben Affleck’s trailer, mistaking it for his own, then apologising “sorry, bro!”. Check out for the full post right here.

At this time, we’ve yet to have any official confirmation from DC Films or Warner Bros on Ben Affleck’s role in Aquaman 2. Nevertheless, this Batfleck news is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Along with the Batman 2 confirmed and Robert Pattinson returning, we’ll also be seeing Michael Keaton’s Tim Burton universe Batman apparently appearing in both the Batgirl movie and The Flash, the latter alongside Affleck.

Ben Affleck’s time as Batman across multiple DCEU movies can easily be argued by DC fans as one of the best elements of that universe – with a darker take on the character that’s also more accurate to the comics.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theatres on 17 March 2023. Are you happy we’ll be seeing more of Ben Affleck’s Batman in Aquaman 2? Let us know across our socials!
