Call Of Duty: Warzone Is Reportedly Saying Goodbye To Verdansk

According to recent rumours, Call of Duty: Warzone Verdansk map will be gone forever following an upcoming event.

The Call of Duty series is certainly no stranger to rumours and leaked information, and recently a new Zombies mode was discovered by dataminers.

The Zombies mode in question is said to be called Plague, and will require players to survive and escape the map of Verdansk before a nuclear bomb is dropped, obliterating anything or anyone that gets left behind.

To be honest, it all sounds quite exciting, yet, there appears to be more to this Plague mode than we first thought.

I assumed that this mode would be quite run-of-the-mill. You might get dropped into Verdansk with your team, you’d fight off hordes of the undead and get out before everything gets nuked.

However, it seems that this Plague mode is the beginning of the end for the Verdansk map as we know it, beginning with Season 7 on March 11th.

In recently leaked audio files uncovered by ZestyCODLeaks, we hear “Don’t turn into a zombie! For Verdansk!” and “We can’t lose Verdansk, fight those damn zombies!

By the looks of things, no matter what the player does or how successful they might be in Plague mode, it’s inevitable that Verdansk will be overrun by the undead and the map will be destroyed by a nuke one way or another.

To add further fuel to this speculation, another audio log says that “this is the end”, adding “extraction failed, nuke inbound for Verdansk.

Tom Henderson, who is quite reliable when it comes to Call of Duty and Battlefield leaks, chimed in on the rumour that the Verdansk map will be destroyed forever.

The current plan for Warzone is that Verdansk will never return,” said Henderson.

However, while it seems that Verdansk will soon be gone, Henderson hinted that a new battle royale map will replace it.

Henderson’s tweet thread continues: “There’s no separate playlist, map voting, or anything like that. Warzone is Warzone and Warzone is 1 map. Warzone will continue to change its map as the story progresses.

Henderson added that he hopes that the Verdansk map will return in a year or two, with a time-travel/portal-related storyline. However, that is just speculation on his part.

When I heard this, I immediately thought that a time machine or portal could be added to the story to have us return to Verdansk in a year or two… But this is just my speculation. More on this at a later date.

Coming from someone that hasn’t played a lot of Warzone recently, this speculation has got me quite excited and I’m intrigued to see how this story develops in the coming days.

While unconfirmed rumours must be taken with a pinch of salt, what are your thoughts of the Verdansk map potentially being no more? Let us know across our social media channels.
