Cyberpunk 2077 Is Being Compared To No Man’s Sky

Following Sony’s decision to remove CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store, fans have begun comparing the RPG’s launch to 2016’s No Man’s Sky from Hello Games.

While both Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man’s Sky are very different games, both suffered disastrous launches and you can see why gamers are drawing comparisons between the two.

When No Man’s Sky released in 2016 it was far from the game that we were led to believe. It was buggy, it lacked in content, had painfully long load-times (and it was quite ugly at times too).

However, around four years has passed since the launch of No Man’s Sky and the game is very different to what it once was.

No Man’s Sky has had a series of updates which more than delivers what Hello Games had promised. Granted it took them four years to get to that stage, but it’s finally there nonetheless.

As far as I can remember, No Man’s Sky was never pulled from the PlayStation Store but in relation to being a game launching way before it’s ready, comparisons can easily be drawn.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the negative mayhem that has plagued Cyberpunk 2077 and its developer CDPR.

Depending on who you ask, there are some gamers that are having a good experience with the game. However the vast majority of Cyberpunk 2077’s issues come with the base console versions for PS4 and Xbox One.

While there is a lot of toxicity right now in relation to Cyberpunk 2077 there are many that can at least find some humour in the misfortunes.

Video game journalist Jacob Wolf offered a twist on the “Hold my Beer” meme when comparing the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man’s Sky.

“Hello Games after their disastrous “No Man’s Sky” launch: it can’t get much worse than this, right?

CD Projekt Red: Hold my beer,” said Wolf in a tweet.

A favourite tweet of mine is one which uses a scene from Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man movie of 2002, involving Peter Parker and the Green Goblin.

Another Twitter follower asked the very valid question: “Alright guys how is Cyberpunk 2077? On a scale from Fallout 76 to No Man’s Sky where do you put it?

However there was some positivity from Twitter followers with a hopeful outlook for CDPR’s RPG.

Cyberpunk 2077 in 2 years will be what No Man’s Sky is today” said one tweet.  Though I hope that Cyberpunk 2077 will be fixed much sooner than two years.

Another Twitter user expressed that they are enjoying Cyberpunk 2077. Though you could take this tweet with a pinch of salt as I’m not the best person at detecting sarcasm.

Overall I think Cyberpunk launch went pretty smooth. Yes there are a lot of bugs but it’s not a No Man’s Sky launch. Great work CD Projekt.

Do you think Cyberpunk 2077 is currently comparable to No Man’s Sky?
