It’s that time of the year again, it’s the Konami festive rumour holiday! Well actually it’s the lead up to The Game Awards, which other than celebrating the video game industry, is also a time for speculation. This time we’re talking about the potential return of Metal Gear Solid series veteran, David Hayter, who has stated he’d love to jump into a remake if it were to happen.

When Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released in 2014 and 2015 respectively, we saw David Hayter leave his role as Snake. The veteran actor was replaced by Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Kiefer Sutherland, and if anyone else could voice Snake it was him and I thought he did a great job. However he’s not David Hayter – no one is (except David Hayter).

For most, David Hayter IS the voice of Snake, especially as he’s voiced the iconic characters for years and this is one of the many reasons why fans are longing for him to return.
When a fan on Twitter asked if there was any truth behind the rumours behind a Metal Gear Solid remaster, they asked the legendary voice actor: “If so please tell me you are voicing Solid Snake again?”
Hayter’s reply was very intriguing, suggesting that if Konami is planning a return to the franchise, he’d totally be up for returning to the role.
“I honestly don’t know of the rumors are true. But if they are, let the studio know you’d like me back as Snake,” said Hayter. “I’m always down to return to Shadow Moses.”
While this by no means any confirmation that a Metal Gear Solid remake is in the works, it is most certainly confirmation that David Hayter wants to return to the role as Solid Snake.
In 2004 we did get a remake of the original MGS with Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (which is one of my favourite remakes of all time).
However this particular remake is exclusive to the Nintendo GameCube, so there are potentially millions of fans that have never even played it.

Back in September there were additional rumours that a Metal Gear Solid remake is in the works and it would be exclusive to PS5 and PC.
If there is just one Christmas miracle to close out a cr*ppy 2020, it would be for Konami, Hideo Kojima, David Hayter and Bluepoint Games to get together and make this remake happen!
Who knows, perhaps we might get a reveal at The Game Awards next week? Probably not.
