The executive producer and co-creator of Dead Space, Glen Schofield, has been working on a new game for a while now, and it looks like an announcement could be coming anytime.
Schofield, who is now the CEO of PUBG Corporation studio Striking Distance, recently told VentureBeat that their next game will be very “ambitious” – even more so than a triple A title.
“We have a seasoned group here,” Schofield told the publication. “We hope to just make something triple-A. We’re actually calling it quad-A. We want to go above and beyond and make something special.”
For those expecting a revisit or a spiritual successor to the Dead Space franchise, you might be out of luck. As you may have figured out, the PUBG Corp and Striking Distance are working on a PUBG-related game.
Schofield explained the upcoming mystery project will be a “narrative focused” game set to expand on the lore of PUBG.
For those still eagerly hoping for a new Dead Space game, all may not yet be lost. As revealed by Take-Two Interactive just last month, Dead Space’s other co-creator Michael Condrey and his new studio 2K Silicon Valley, are gearing up to reveal their next big game.
According to Take-Two, the mysterious project will be unveiled to the world in “the coming months,” and will be published by 2K Games.
Unfortunately but predictably, that’s all that was mentioned on the topic, leaving us to speculate on what the project might be.
Condrey, who co-founded original Call of Duty studio, Sledgehammer Games, has some stellar hits under his belt, and I can’t wait to see what his next game has to offer.
Previous bodies of work of Condrey’s not only include Dead Space, but also Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Personally I’d like to see Condrey return to his horror roots.
