Dead Space devs interested in remaking the sequel next

Last month saw the release of the original Dead Space remake. After its big success, a remake for its sequel may be on the cards.

With the 2023 remake of Dead Space being as successful as it was originally back in 2008, it perhaps comes as no surprise that fans are calling to see a Dead Space 2 remake too. Luckily for them, the team at Motive have confirmed that they are interested in continuing the series. Maybe after a bit of a break first, however.

This news was confirmed in a Reddit AMA which saw fans coming to Motive with their burning questions. It wasn’t long before questions turned to another remake. A comment from a deleted Reddit user asked if the team had their sights set on a future for the franchise. Senior game writer Jo Berry responded by saying the team had expressed interest both internally and externally. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

“We’ve said both internally and externally that we’d be interested in continuing our work on the Dead Space franchise,” Berry says. “Our Core group is passionate about the brand and we need to discuss what’s the right next step for us. There are numerous factors that need to be taken into account at a studio and company level but first, the team will take a well-deserved vacation before determining what’s next”.

Further hints

This news comes after eagle-eyed fans spotted an easter egg in the recent remake which could also hint at Dead Space 2. Furthermore, with an alternative ending in Dead Space making the same implications, it would appear the chances of a sequel are high.

Either way, it will be a while before we see this (if it happens). However, with the success of the 2023 remake, it’s definitely something to be excited for.
