Over the weekend on Disney Plus, a very special tribute was made in honour of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman.
Prior to the reveal, executive chairman at Walt Disney, Robert Iger, that teased a special tribute would be made on what would have been Chadwick Boseman’s 44th birthday. The star sadly passed away in August of this year.
“To all fans of Black Panther: watch the film on Disney+ later tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts.” said Iger.
The special tribute was revealed to be a change of the introduction to the Black Panther movie on the streaming service.
The intro, which would normally be a short highlight reel for all Marvel movies, was purely dedicated to Chadwick Boseman and his role as the Black Panther, which also slowly transitioned from Marvel’s classic red into a Black Panther-inspired purple palette.
Chadwick Boseman tragically lost his life after battling with colon cancer. Though he’s remembered for his starring role in Black Panther, he’s also recognised for his endless charity work, which further highlighted how much of a loving person he was.
On the weekend of his 44th birthday fellow co-stars such as The Incredible Hulk Mark Ruffalo also shared touching tributes.
Even in video games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, heart-warming tributes have also been made to the beloved actor, such as naming a street after his breakout movie “42”.
Black Panther 2 is set to start filming next year and it will be both interesting and sad to see who will carry the mantle left by Chadwick Boseman.
Following the passing of Boseman, Marvel Studios EVP Victoria Alonso said: “There’s only one Chadwick and he’s not with us,

“Our king, unfortunately, has died in real life, not just in fiction, and we are taking a little time to see how we return to history and what we do to honour this chapter of what has happened to us that was so unexpected, so painful, so terrible, really.“
Alonso added: “The thought of doing it without him is kinda strange. We’re just grieving at the moment, so it’s trying to find the light in the midst of it.“
We at GameByte would like to wish a belated happy birthday in remembrance to the King.
