EA To Launch Microtransaction Spending Tracker In FIFA 21

EA has confirmed that it will soon be launching a tracker tool for FIFA 21, giving players the ability to track just how much they’ve been spending in-game.

The tracking tool will help players keep track of not only FIFA playtime, but will also provide information on how much has (or hasn’t) been spent playing the Ultimate Team mode.

The tracking tool will not only keep track of playtime and how much real-world money you’ve spent, but will also allow you to set limits of how much you can play and spend in FIFA 21.  You’ll even be able to limit the amount of FUT packs that you can open.

In a press release provided by EA, the company said the following:

The integration of both tracking and limits in FIFA Playtime is grounded in research that shows that having access to more information helps players feel comfortable with how they play,

When combined with smart prompts to guide choices, players were able to better find a comfortable balance in their gaming. We will continue to evolve and adapt these tools and resources to give you even more ways to shape your gaming experience.

In addition to the tracking tool – which I imagine will be implemented in other EA sports games -the company has also set-up a webpage that provides further information on spending habits, playtime, parental controls and more.

Personally I think that this tracking tool is long overdue, and I think it’s great that it’s being implemented beginning with FIFA 21. Similar tools have been available on betting websites and apps for quite some time.

In the past (and very recently), EA has faced a number of lawsuits looking into how the company implements loot box-like mechanics into games, with many people comparing them to gambling.

The FIFA Playtime tool is expected to launch tomorrow on November 17th for Xbox One and PS4 before the game gets a next-gen release in the near future. Are you glad to see EA add a spending tracker to FIFA?
