Fallout 5 will go back to it’s Roots says Todd Howard

Fallout 76 may still not be out yet but that doesn’t mean that the next instalment in the Fallout Franchise isn’t being made. Todd Howard has confirmed that ‘Fallout 5’ will be single player and will go back to what fans are used to from the franchise.

Fallout 76 was met with a lost of criticism from fans who are used to the Fallout games being these massive open world single player experiences. I think that Fallout going down this route is good and keeps the franchise fresh rather than just creating a similar game every few years. Lets just hope they don’t plant to add a battle royale to ‘Fallout 5’.

As well as confirming that Fallout 5 will be single player Todd Howard has confirmed that Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield will also be single player. Elder Scrolls 6 being single player is interesting as it seems like it is one iteration of the game ahead of Fallout. By that I mean that The Elder Scrolls series has had its online multiplayer game in Elder Scrolls Online and is now going back to single player games. Whereas Fallout is one step behind and just about to release their multiplayer game.

It will be interesting to see if they continue to release multiplayer games as separate games or to combine into one game in the future.

This also comes out at a time when Todd Howard has said that Sony is holding back the console cross play ability. Even though we know that you can cross play between Xbox and Playstation due to a bug in Fortnite back in September of last year.

Will you be picking up Fallout 76 or will you be waiting for the next single player iteration of the game?
