Maybe?

Fans’ Top Prediction For PS5 Event Is God Of War Part 2

In case you missed it, Sony has revealed its next State of Play showcase will be taking place this week, on Wednesday September 16. As we now have the release date and prices for the Xbox Series X and Series S, it’s likely we’ll get a similar announcement from Sony – but what about the PlayStation 5 games themselves?

We already know a number of the games coming in the first year or two of the next Sony console, but rumour says Sony is still holding back when it comes to its bigger reveals. This rumour, coupled with the fact that this is 2020 and we all need some good news, has fans hopeful that Wednesday’s event could be the reveal of a sequel to 2018’s God of War.

Despite no official reveal, director Cory Barlog all but confirmed the game is happening during a recent podcast, where he discussed how the PS5’s tech will work with the next God of War game.

Speaking on a recent episode of Gary Whitta’s Animal Talking podcast, Barlog teased just how big God of War Part 2 will be (not an official title, but if I say “God of War 2” y’all come for me).

Barlog teased eager GoW fans about how the sequel will work with the PS5’s tech, saying: “There’s some really cool stuff that I think we’re going to be able to do.”

This is definitely interesting considering all we know about the PS5’s haptics, which reportedly will be sensitive enough to allow players to “feel in-game rain.” What’s even more interesting is that this is the closest we’ve come to any sort of official confirmation that God of War Part 2 is even happening.

The 2018 hit ended on a cliffhanger and scooped enough awards and fan praise to almost definitely secure a sequel, but any confirmed developmental news and official announcements have yet to surface.

Fans are hopeful that the next State of Play could be the day – even if all we get is a cinematic teaser trailer. A number of eager gamers are taking to social media with their PS5 event predictions, and topping the list for many is a God of War Part 2 reveal.

Whether or not it’s going to happen remains to be seen. Personally I wouldn’t be betting money on this one, but stranger things have happened.
