Gamers Would Rather See Simpsons: Hit & Run Remastered Than GTA

A recent Twitter poll has revealed that fans would rather see a remaster of The Simpsons: Hit and Run than Grand Theft Auto: San Andres [via Comicbook].

Posted by UK retailer GAME, the poll asked its followers to choose from four comeback candidates. The result? Well, it looks like the 2003 Springfield sandbox is on a lot of people’s remaster wish list. Check it out!

As you can see, 5,125 Twitter users took part in the poll. However, against all odds, The Simpsons: Hit and Run managed to snag just under half of the votes. This is despite the fact it was up against GTA, Rockstar’s Bully and the legendary PS1 classic, Metal Gear Solid.

Originally released for the PS2, Gamecube and original Xbox, The Simpsons: Hit and Run is something of a cult classic. If you’re unfamiliar with the premise of the game, it’s essentially a Simpsons themed, GTA inspired sandbox adventure. As far as Simpsons games go, Hit and Run is extremely faithful to its source material, transforming the animated sitcom into a unique interactive experience.

So, is The Simpsons: Hit and Run in with a chance of a remake? Well, the game’s original publisher, Vivendi Games, has since become a part of Activision Blizzard [via Forbes]. However, the merger also resulted in Activision dropping most of Vivendi’s licence based back catalogue. Therefore, it’s hard to tell whether Activision could actually remaster the game, even if it wanted to.

As for GTA, Bully and Metal Gear Solid, well, that’s a different story entirely. If you’ve been keeping up with recent Rockstar leaks and rumours, then you’ll already know that various remasters could be in the pipeline. Claims have also emerged in regards to a Metal Gear Solid remake, which could be coming to PC and PS5.

Hopefully, fans will eventually get their hands on The Simpsons: Hit and Run Remastered. While there’s bound to be lots of licencing hurdles involved in bringing the game back, perhaps there’s a publisher out there willing to make the effort. Fingers crossed!
