Final Fantasy 16 will only be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for six months, as confirmed by Sony which will be pleasing news for some.
However, the timed exclusivity only relates to when Final Fantasy 16 from Square Enix comes to PC. It’s unclear as to when FF16 might come to Xbox Series X|S. In fact, the Xbox arrival hasn’t been officially confirmed either way.
PC gamers won’t be waiting long
That being said, we do know that Square Enix RPG will come to PC six months after its PS5 launch. The news of the exclusivity length was revealed in a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ clip during a recent “Play Like Never Before” PlayStation 5 trailer.
During the quick snippet of FF16 gameplay, it reads: “Final Fantasy 16 anticipated Summer 2023. PS5 exclusive for six months.”

Another timed exclusive period was revealed
Furthermore, in the same trailer the exclusivity length for Forspoken, also from Square Enix has also been revealed, and it’s going to be a much longer wait indeed.
Developed by Luminous Productions, Forspoken is currently set to release for PC as well as PS5 on January 24th, 2023. However, a recently revealed timed exclusivity period means that Xbox fans will be waiting years for its arrival. That’s assuming it arrives on Microsoft’s gaming console.
Final Fantasy producer addresses lack of diversity
In related Final Fantasy 16 news, the game’s producer Naoki Yoshida has blamed FF16s medieval setting for its lack of diversity seen in its trailers. However, there is a massive plot hole in Yoshida-san’s logic.
When is the Final Fantasy 16 release date?

At this time, FF16 does not have a release date. That being said, we do know that it will release sometime during Q2/Q3 2023. Hopefully, Square Enix will announce its release date in the coming weeks.
