Final Fantasy 16 will have drugs and sex workers, apparently

Final Fantasy 16 will have drugs, sex workers, and hate crimes. Well, that’s at least according to its age rating. Wowza!

When we think of Final Fantasy, the legendary RPG series from Square Enix, the last thing we’ll probably think of is sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll. Well, apparently, the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 will be a lot more mature than we first thought.

We wonder if Trevor Phillips is in Ff16!

The age rating in Brazil states that Final Fantasy 16 is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16, coincidentally. However, the 16 age rating is nothing new in this series as both Final Fantasy 15 as well as Final Fantasy 7 Remake shared the same recommendation.

According to the Brazilian rating, FF 16 will feature “sex scenes not fully shown” as well as “violent content attenuated by scenes’ direction”. Not to mention, violence with weapons, blood, intentional deaths, torture and victims suffering.

Could this be the darkest Final Fantasy ever?

It is possible that none of the above will feature in FF16, but even if some of it does, this could end up being one of the darkest games in the long-running series yet. Thankfully, we might not have to wait long to find out further details.

FF16 producer Naoki Yoshida will be at The Game Awards next week on December 8th. So, with a bit of luck, not only will we be treated to some new gameplay and details, but hopefully we’ll get a release date too.

In related Final Fantasy 16 news, we recently learned that it will only be a PS5 exclusive for 6 months. Furthermore, Naoki Yoshida blamed FF16s lack of diversity on its medieval setting.
