Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers is set to release later this year, but once upon a time a different Avengers game was in the works. The canned project was in the hands of Blue Tongue Entertainment and THQ Australia Studio, but – like many video game projects – it never got to see the light of day.
Early footage of the game has now surfaced online, and it looks as though we would’ve been controlling the likes of Hulk and Iron Man from a first person perspective.
Though the game definitely looks a little rough and is certainly showing its age (Ubisoft gained the rights to the franchise in time for 2013’s Marvel Avengers: Battle For Earth). However, what we’re seeing here looks like a lot of fun, and I’m a little sad we never got to get the full thing.

The Avengers baton is now firmly in the hands of Square Enix, who later this year, will release Marvel’s Avengers for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.

The game, which is scheduled to launch on September 4, is looking pretty classy. Last year, video game actor Nolan North, who plays Tony Stark in the upcoming game, praised the title for its unbelievable graphics.
Speaking at MCM ComicCon , the actor said: “It absolutely is one of the most stunning things…You can’t tell where in-game cinematics and gameplay [separate]…it’s so seamless…

“You always worry that [a game] looks so good, and then you get the game and you’re like, ‘oh gameplay doesn’t look as good.’ [Avengers] really, visually, it’s one of the most stunning things I’ve ever seen. And obviously with The Last of Us, Uncharted, they’re amazing, but [Avengers] blew me away.”

We’re all working through a difficult time right now due to civil unrest and race protests. You can find out more about the Black Lives Matter movement, and donate to help the cause via the official BlackLivesMatter website here.
