‘Ghost Of Tsushima PS5’ Reportedly Revealed By Creative Director

A LinkedIn post has seemingly confirmed that a Ghost of Tsushima game is headed to PS5 – but is it a sequel or a new-gen upgrade?

The LinkedIn page of Sucker Punch’s cinematic creative director Dave Molloy has apparently confirmed that the studio is working on a PS5 Ghost of Tsushima game.

As spotted by Reddit, the Sucker Punch developer recently updated his profile, adding the line: “presently working on the Ghost of Tsushima game for Sony PS5.”

However, since news of Molloy’s profile update started making the rounds, “PS5” has been updated to simply “PlayStation.”

The update from “PS5” to “PlayStation” could mean a lot of things – and none of them concrete. However, it does look as though Molloy accidentally let slip something that he shouldn’t and then tried to retract it.

While Ghost of Tsushima 2 is, at this stage, almost definitely in the works, Molloy may not be referencing a sequel to the 2020 hit.

The “presently working on the Ghost of Tsushima game for Sony PS5” line could mean that Sucker Punch is working on a PS5 port of the game and not a sequel (though I personally believe a sequel is in the works).

So why do we suspect a Ghost of Tsushima sequel is happening?

Back in January a job listing at Sucker Punch Productions advertised a position for a Combat Designer.

The role of Combat Designer asked that any potential candidate “must have played Ghost of Tsushima and understand its core combat systems.

Other than Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions is also known for the Sly Cooper and the Infamous series.

I would assume that Sucker Punch wouldn’t specifically require a candidate to understand the core combat systems of Ghost of Tsushima if it was to work on a new Sly Cooper or even an Infamous game…

Obviously at this stage it’s all speculation and rumours, take the news of Ghost of Tsushima PS5 with a pinch of salt. However it’s fun speculating nonetheless, and we’d love to hear your thoughts across our social media channels!
