God Of War Creator Says PS5 Reveal Coming ‘In Next Few Weeks’

We’ve yet to see what the PlayStation 5 will look like, but one industry insider is claiming that we’re right on the cusp of the console’s official reveal. I use the term “industry insider” very loosely of course, because I’m talking about the one and only David Jaffe, creator of God of War and top dog on numerous Sony-led IPs.

Responding to a fan on Twitter [via ResetEra], Jaffe told the world: ”PS5 reveal is less than 4 weeks away. Sony knows hard core gamers are hanging on every scrap of info and know that just cause MSFT dominates the conversation at the moment, that’s an easy thing to change when they are ready to reveal (assuming the reveal is good).”

He then followed up the tweet saying the imminent PlayStation 5 reveal is the “worst kept secret in games right now.”

Considering that Microsoft already unveiled their next-gen offering during The Game Awards last year, the Xbox Series X (or apparently, just the “Xbox”), the heat must be on for Sony to reveal the PS5.

Sony has already announced plans to skip E3 2020 meaning we definitely won’t be seeing the PS5 reveal then. Looking into the history books, it’s never really been too likely that was going to happen. The PS Vita, PS4 and PS4 Pro were each revealed during singular PlayStation events, meaning it’s unlikely that Sony would change up their tried-and-tested formula for consoles.

Could February really be the reveal of the PlayStation 5?

Recently, Mike Ybarra, the former Corporate Vice President of Gaming at Microsoft, declared on Twitter that when then new console generation arrives, he will be choosing the PS5 over the Xbox One Series X.

It’ll be interesting to see just what Sony is offering console gamers with the PS5!
