RUMOUR: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ‘Releasing In 2021 For PlayStation 5’

As the era of the PlayStation 4 comes to an end the world is looking to the PS5 and wondering what we can expect from the next-gen console’s game library. With some absolutely iconic games launching on PS4 in the last few years, sequels are definitely likely, and a new rumour claims that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is just one of the games we can expect on PS5.

Just as few weeks ago, Kinda Funny Games‘ Imran Khan hinted to the world that a sequel to the 2018 classic could be dropping as early as “Christmas 2021.”

Although not specifically pointing to 2021, Khan had previously referenced a “Christmas 2021” release window earlier in the podcast, suggesting that might be a tentative indication of when we could see Spider-Man 2.

Khan, a known industry insider and a reliable source of leaks in the past, went on to say: “I know too much about this so I can’t speculate too much…I think Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think.”

Of course, this is all still unconfirmed by developer Insomniac Games, who has yet to formally announce that a Spider-Man sequel is in the works at all. (Considering just how popular the game was – and continues to be – it’s almost a dead-cert that a sequel is coming.)

With less than 12 months to go until the launch of the PlayStation 5, here’s hoping we’ll soon be seeing a slew of next-gen game announcements,. Personally, I’m hoping for God of War 2 and Grand Theft Auto 6.

It’s believed that a recent tweet from a Santa Monica Studio dev hints that a sequel to God of War 2018 has now entered production, but for now it’s just another rumour spilling out from the video games mill.

Only time will tell what we can expect from the next generation of gaming – and when we can expect it!
