God Of War Director Pokes Fun At Rip-Offs’ Box Art

God of War director Cory Barlog pokes fun at rip-off box art. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that. But wow!

When they say “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” in the best way, it can mean that something has been inspired by something else. After all, very few things are 100% unique. If you dig deep enough, you will often find that almost everything is inspired by something. One way or another.

However, as reported by Screen Rant, there is a line that can be crossed. When something is blatantly ripped-off, it can’t be called inspired. One such example is from the mobile game, Chief Almighty. And again, just wow!

God of War director Cory Barlog was made aware of the copycat “artwork” on Twitter and to be fair, the developer responded in a humorous way. Fans of God of War will be very familiar with the artwork for the 2018 game. So much so that, well, just take a look for yourself.

Furthermore, it’s not just God of War that Chief Almighty has ripped off, as Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn has also fallen victim to its mimicry. Again, just take a look.

Seriously, this can’t be real, can it?

However, scrolling through the Twitter thread, it developed into a rabbit hole of alleged rip-off artwork from Chief Almighty. It’s at the point where I’m asking myself, surely this can’t all be real, can it?

Unfortunately, mobile games copying from other games is nothing new and it’s not just Chief Almighty. Earlier this year the mobile game called Doula Continent: Soul Master Duel seemed to have ripped-off a Final Fantasy 14 trailer.
