God Of War Ragnarok’s Accessibility Features Look Incredible

To celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Santa Monica Studio has released some of the accessibility features of God of War Ragnarok.

Accessibility in video games is massively important. There are so many types of gamers with all kinds of skill levels, needs and disabilities. So, it’s vital that there are as many options as possible to cater for a variety of needs. After all, what a sad world it would be if we weren’t able to enjoy our favourite video games.

Gaming is for everyone

So, with that in mind, Santa Monica Studio has revealed some of the accessibility features that will be available in God of War Ragnarok. In total, the developers have revealed there will be over 60 accessibility options in Kratos’ upcoming adventure.

Santa Monica released the details via a PlayStation Blog post. Accessibility options include subtitles and caption adjustments, high contrast mode and customisation, controller remapping as well as audio cues, audio description and much more.

In God of War Ragnarok, players will also be able to adjust the font size and subtitle colour. Additionally, those that are hard of hearing will also be able to activate a Direction Indicator, which lets the players know where a key sound is coming from.

There will also be traversal assistance, allowing the player to jump, vault and climb environmental objects all by simply pressing the direction.

Furthermore, Santa Monica Studio has also released an audio described version of the God of War Ragnarok reveal trailer. More details on the accessibility options are promised to be revealed in the near future.

What would you like to see implemented?

Personally, as someone that suffers from constant tinnitus, I’m hoping to see options that help to reduce tinnitus triggering sounds, similar to what’s available in Guardians of the Galaxy from Crystal Dynamics.
