God Of War Ragnarok Might Be Getting Delayed Until 2023

God of War Ragnarok looks increasingly likely that it might be delayed until 2023 after all. That’s if recent reports are to be believed.

Despite assurances from the developer that God of War Ragnarok will launch this year, evidence is starting to pile up that might suggest otherwise. Announced in 2020, God of War Ragnarok was originally penned in for a 2021 release.

God of War Ragnarok was then pushed back into 2022, however, it seems like we might be waiting for the next adventures of Kratos and Atreus until 2023.

A placeholder date has changed

As reported by Gamesradar, a tweet from PlayStation Game Size noticed that God of War Ragnarok’s placeholder date had apparently been moved from September to December 31st, 2022. Now, if this December date is true, it would suggest the release is still happening this year.

However, the December 31st placeholder date is as generic as it gets and is often used if no official release date has been announced. Especially if that product is expected to launch at the end of that respective year.

Furthermore, Gamereactor Spain claims to have been informed from “various European sources” that Ragnarok has been pushed back into 2023.

Ragnarok Reports have been conflicting

That being said, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier posted in ResetEra that he’s heard no such news on Ragnarok being delayed into next year.

Schreier posted: “It’s hard to definitely prove a negative but someone who would know first-hand just told me they haven’t heard anything about a slip to 2023, as did someone else who might know second-hand.

Obviously, we must take conflicting rumours with a pinch of salt. However, as fans of the series will know, God of War is prone to delays. Hopefully, Sony and Santa Monica Studio will provide us with an official release date in the coming months.
