Fans have been waiting for the next Grand Theft Auto for a while now. However, according to a reliable insider, we might not see GTA 6 until at least 2025. Bummer!
The latest round of rumour fuelled information comes courtesy of Tom Henderson, an insider known for reliable Call of Duty and Battlefield information. However, rather than spilling the beans on the latest shooters, Henderson has this time divulged some information on Rockstar’s upcoming crime caper [via GameSpot].
According to Henderson’s latest video, GTA 6 will take place within a modernised Vice City, which contradicts previous rumours of an 80s backdrop. The leaker also revealed that the game will feature a dynamic map, one that will receive updates in a similar fashion to Fortnite. Grand Theft Auto 6 will also apparently feature multiple playable characters, just like in GTA 5.
What about GTA 6’s release date?
Well, in Henderson’s latest video, the insider states that Rockstar is being more mindful of employee wellbeing. This is of course in response to ongoing criticism regarding “crunch” work conditions within the games industry. While ensuring its staff aren’t overworked is a factor in GTA 6’s extended development period, the publisher is also apparently waiting for more next-gen systems to be sold. This is something that will help Rockstar maximise GTA 6 sales upon its eventual release.
Of course, it’s needless to say that you should take these rumours with a grain of salt for now. However, the information does allow us to set expectations in regards to GTA 6’s release date. Hopefully, Rockstar will shed some light on GTA 6’s development situation at some point in the near future.
