Horizon Forbidden West is the second most successful PS5 game to release in 2022, so far. Cementing a satisfactory launch for the sequel.
As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel has only been outsold in 2022 by Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. However, considering that Horizon Forbidden West has been out for less than a week, it’s probably only a matter of time before it becomes Sony’s best seller.
Furthermore, Horizon Forbidden West has also claimed the number one spot in the UK boxed charts. Data compiled by GfK, as of the week ending February 19th, Aloy’s latest adventure has toppled the likes of FIFA 22, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Dying Light 2 as well as Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
In terms of numbers, 68% of boxed sales for Forbidden West were on PS5. Meaning that 32% of people did not buy the PS4 version which is £10 less and entitles you to a free new-gen upgrade.

Furthermore, Horizon Forbidden West sales are down by 35% compared to Horizon Zero Dawn. However, this data does not include digital sales. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the sequel has surpassed the original in terms of overall sales. According to Gamesindustry.biz, the digital download data will be released next week.
In related Forbidden West news, for some reason, disgruntled gamers have been review bombing the sequel on Metacritic.
