Microsoft has revealed that the pre-order period for the next-gen Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S has been record breaking.

Taking to Twitter to confirm the news, the official Xbox account thanked fans for their demand of the consoles, admitting the company is “humbled” by the overwhelming response.
“We are humbled by the record-breaking demand for Xbox Series X and S. Huge thanks to everyone for the excitement,” tweeted Xbox.
“If you weren’t successful today be sure to sign up with retailers for updates, and expect more consoles to be available on November 10.”
Pre-orders for the two new consoles went live yesterday (September 22), though in the US, the official Microsoft website crashed under the pressure. In the UK, many retailers also struggled to meet demand, with many reports of the console selling out in just minutes.
Though many people were stuck in queues, faced website issues or were unable to check out with their order, it seems as though Microsoft’s initial pre-order period went smoother than Sony’s with its PS5…

Following Sony’s State of Play event earlier this month, a number of retailers across the world opened their PS5 pre-orders early, meaning some gamers were able to snag a PS5 while others were not. The console began to sell out in minutes, causing a huge surge for demand and leaving a lot of people very upset.
Following the disaster, PlayStation took to social media to apologise to fans, while also promising that more consoles will be available soon.
“Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother,” PlayStation tweeted. “We truly apologize for that. Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details. And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year.”
Hopefully you’ve managed to secure your next-gen console!
