It’s not looking hopeful that Resident Evil Village will come to either PS4 or Xbox One, according to a Brazilian Age Production Classification.
We know for sure that Resident Evil Village will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but we’ve previously heard rumours the new game will skip last-gen entirely. Now new evidence suggests the same.
Nothing has yet been confirmed though, as there have been reports that Capcom is exploring ways to bring the forthcoming survival horror to last-gen consoles, though the company has made no promises.
A good reason as to why Capcom would want to bring Resident Evil Village to PS4 and Xbox One is firstly because there will still be millions of gamers that haven’t been able to make the next-gen leap.
Secondly and quite possibly the most important factor for Capcom is that by making Resident Evil Village cross-gen, it means more sales and more sales means more money.
The news of the Brazilian age classification was posted by Reddit user PokemonAreCoolz, who discovered the listing and shared it to the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. In the image, it’s noted that the game has been rated in Brazil, but only for PS5, Xbox X|S and PC.
Personally, I would like to see as many gamers play Resident Evil Village as possible, and if Capcom is able to make a quality last-gen port, it would be good for everyone.
Sadly however, as the development has shown for Cyberpunk 2077, the more platforms that a game comes to, the more complications can occur.
Further proof is in the pudding with the base PS4 and Xbox One versions of CDPR’s RPG causing more problems than all the other platforms.
In an ideal world I would love to see Resident Evil Village come to last and new-gen consoles, but if it takes away the potential of the highly-anticipated survival horror, I wouldn’t want this game to be a lesser experience.
This is coming from someone who is a big Resident Evil fan and who has been unable to acquire a next-gen console, so that would mean that I could miss out on RE Village. But I’d rather the game be the best that it can be.
At the time of writing we do not have a release date for Resident Evil Village but we do know that it will release for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2021.
