God Of War DLC Teased In Santa Monica Studio Job Listing

The chances of getting DLC for 2018’s iconic God of War seemed slim to none, but a new job listing from Santa Monica Studio has recently caught my eye and raised suspicions.

Santa Monica is on the hunt for a Senior Narrative Animator to join their God of War team. Considering that the PlayStation 5 is dropping later this year, and creating a sequel to the 2018 classic is going to take a few years, you’d assume the animator is needed to God of War 5 (or 2, depending on which side of the fence you’re on).

However, the listing specifically mentions that the role is for a PS4 project, lending credence to the idea of DLC.

The job spec, which you can check out in full right here, reads as follows: “Join our award-winning God of War team We are looking for a Senior Narrative Animator to help us push the boundaries of interactive storytelling and set the bar for narrative creativity on the PS4.”

Now this doesn’t necessarily mean that we can expect DLC for God of War, it could merely be an oversight, or maybe the team is reluctant to share that the project is for the next-generation of consoles. Still, it’s definitely eyebrow-raising.

Santa Monica has been gearing up with a new behind-the-scenes project for the last few months, and just recently a dev teased that motion capture was underway at the studio. We assumed that would be for a God of War sequel, but if the new hires are specifically for PS4 work, we really could be looking at DLC.

As always, take this leak with a pinch of salt until we hear official word from the team themselves. Whatever’s really on the way from the GoW team, I’m definitely more than a little hyped.
