John Wick TV Series Has A Tentative Release Window

It’s been a while since we heard about the upcoming John Wick television show, The Continental, but we’ve finally gotten an idea of when we’ll be seeing it hit our screens thanks to Starz President and CEO, Jeffrey Hirsch.

Speaking with the Television Critics Association earlier this month, Hirsch confirmed the series is still happening, saying: “I had a meeting on a season pitch for this yesterday. We like the group of writers, and we’re trying to get it in the right place so it doesn’t interfere with the motion picture. It will air sometime after the fourth movie.”

The fourth movie in the beloved action franchise is due to drop in theatres 21 May 2021, so likely we’ll be seeing the TV series in either later 2021 or early 2022.

Not too much is known about the show right now, but it’s been said that the series will serve as a prequel to the movies, and will explore the assassin-friendly Continental Hotel. It’s not yet been confirmed whether or not the series will feature Mr. John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves.

Last year, Hirsch didn’t seem confident that Reeves will play a role in the show, telling Deadline: “That’s a really good question that I’m not going to answer. No answer is as good a tease you’re going to get,

“It’s a great franchise, we’re excited about bringing that show to the network.”

As for the fourth John Wick movie, it’ll be released in theatres worldwide on the same date as the fourth addition to The Matrix franchise which also stars Reeves. All in all, May 2021 is looking like it’s going to be a pretty great week to be Keanu Reeves though in all honesty, when wouldn’t it be a pretty great week to be Keanu Reeves?!
