Konami renews trademark for ‘beloved’ franchise ahead of TGS

Konami renews a trademark for a ‘beloved’ JRPG series ahead of the Tokyo Game Show 2022 sparking fan excitement.

The renewed trademark in question is for the beloved Konami franchise, Suikoden. Sure, this not is news that some Metal Gear Solid or Silent Hill fans might not want to hear. However, this will come as welcomed news for fans of the JRPG genre.

Fans have been waiting years for its return!

As reported by Push Square, the trademark for Suikoden was filed back in June. Which could mean that Konami has been planning for a reveal for at least a few months. The trademark was spotted by Reddit user sleuthsters, before also making the rounds on Resetera.

It’s worth keeping in mind that just because a trademark was filed for Suikoden, it doesn’t mean that there will be an announcement at the TGS 2022 from September 15th to 18th. However, there are a few other ingredients that add spice and validation to the speculation.

Last week, Konami revealed that they will be making an announcement for a franchise “loved all over the world.” Furthermore, Konami also revealed that popular Japanese anime voice actor, Yuki Kaji will be in attendance.

Could the Konami trademark see Suikoden return?

What does this mean? Well, Yuki Kaji just so happens to be the voice of protagonist Jowy in Suikoden 2, as well as other characters in the series. So, it’s fair to say that things are beginning to add up. However, it might be wise to curb expectations, just in case.
