The upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga game will feature 300 playable characters, according to the latest issue of PlayStation Magazine UK

Developed by TT Games, the next instalment of the intergalactic parody will have a total of 800 characters, 300 of which will be playable. The game also features a brand new engine and an open world to explore, which hosts 23 planets and moons, plus 28 unique locations. This all comes from lead hub designer Dawn McDiarmid [via PSU.com].

McDiarmid also claims that “If you have a favourite Star Wars location it’s pretty likely you can visit it in-game,” something that is sure to please Star Wars fans of all ages.

The game sounds like it’s aiming to be incredibly ambitious, providing heaps of fanservice. McDiarmid also stated that Rise of Skywalker could have done more with Finn (played by John Boyega), saying that this game is a “chance to put things right.” [via TheGamer].

The Skywalker Saga is set to feature all nine Star Wars flicks, which perhaps explains why there are over 300 minifigures in the game. TT Games also said previously that “lore and fandom will collide” in this new LEGO compilation, which suggests that the saga’s LEGO composition will allow fans to delve into the intricacies of the Star Wars universe.

The game also will allow players to experience the story in any order they please. This means that you can jump straight into whatever Star Wars era you want, without having to endure other parts of the story first. This is sure to put a Tarantino-esque spin on the whole thing, something I’m sure lots of fans will do to avoid meeting Jar Jar.

We last got to see a glimpse of The Skywalker Saga during gamescom 2020 in the form of a cinematic trailer. From memorable dog fights to iconic lightsabre duals, this trailer made it abundantly clear that we’d be getting to enjoy Star Wars in its entirety. Just as you’d expect, the whole affair also seems to be infused with the LEGO-based humour we’ve all come to know and love.
