Marvel’s Spider Man 2 Game Length – Everything You Need To Know

With just over a month to go until the launch of Marvel’s Spider Man 2, Insomniac Games have revealed how long it will take to complete.

Marvel’s Spider Man sequel is set to launch on October 20 and people are counting down the days until they can zip on the suit and swing around the streets of New York.

With excitement rising, some fans are wondering just how much content they will have to explore and thanks to a recent interview, we now know.

Marvel’s Spider Man 2 Game Length

In an interview with VG247, senior game director Ryan Smith revealed just how long it will take to complete the story.

“Spider-Man 2 is in the same ball-park as the first game in terms of overall playtime,” he said. “We don’t want this to be an 80-100 hour game, that’s not where we want to be. We want to tell amazing stories, the best we can. We want to make every mission really, really memorable. That’s our goal, rather than going super, super broad.”

For those who played Marvel’s Spider Man, they would know this ball-park would sit at around 17 hours for main-game completion according to HowLongToBeat. For the completionists out there, it was estimated to take around 25 hours to wrap up all the side quests too.

So we can expect the same numbers for the sequel.

Quality Not Quantity

Smith and the team had their reasons for not increasing the hours.

“We really thought about how to make each of the [story] moments… a little more epic, or a little deeper, or a little more story-integrated,” he explained. “We want to make sure that there’s a story element to everything that you discover in the world. We saw players really respond to that when we did it well in previous titles.”

So despite the game’s map being double the size of its predecessor and having a lot more to do in the world, it’s still reassuring to know each aspect will retain a story element and not just act as filler.
