Infinity Ward has released gameplay footage of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 during Summer Game Fest.
The mission, codenamed ‘Dark Water’ showcases Task Force 141 infiltrating an oil rig to secure an enemy missile. The mission then evolves from stealth gameplay to all-out action in a sequence reminiscent of the first mission of Call of Duty 4.
Also seen or heard in the clip are returning characters Price, Gaz, Soap and Price. A new character, Graves, also appears in the mission as a member of your squad.
The gameplay highlights the teamplay as part of Modern Warfare 2’s sequential gameplay. “The ultimate weapon is team” is the tagline for this game and it’s evident this will be a major theme of the campaign.
Infinity Ward also talked about Warzone 2.0 during Summer Game Fest. The game, also launching later this year, is intended to be an extension of the Modern Warfare universe. There is, however, a catch for those coming from the first Warzone.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be releasing across Xbox, PlayStation and PC on October 28th. The official reveal trailer also released yesterday and showcases more of the game’s campaign.
