Are we looking too much into this? Perhaps. Still though, a mysterious account has popped up on Twitter that might or might not have something to do with Final Fantasy 16.
The account, discovered by VG247, which is currently locked, does in some ways follow the naming conventions of previous series’ on social media.
Final Fantasy 15’s Twitter username is FFXVEN, using Roman numerals but no underscore. However, Final Fantasy 14’s account is FF_XIV_EN, meaning that the underscores don’t necessarily point to it being fake.
Obviously we’ve got to take the whole thing with a pinch of salt, but there’s no harm in getting a little excited about a cryptic social media account, right?

We have seen a fairly similar situation in the past, where what looked like a placeholder account for a new Fable game appeared. An Xbox employee quickly dismissed that it meant anything, however a month later it was confirmed that a new game was on its way via Playground Games.

Rumours of Final Fantasy 16 have been circulating since 2017 with little information to keep us going. It would make one hell of a bombshell to coincide with the next gen consoles if something is in the pipeline though.
