It’s rumoured that PlayStation is planning to host its first State Of Play conference of 2022 in February. The rumour comes from, you guessed it, Tom Henderson, who recently spoke about the conference in a YouTube video.
Speaking about the event, Henderson stated that “the current rumor is that the next Sony event looks like it could be in February.” He went on to add that his hunch is based on, “this month’s media events and past PlayStation dates.” Henderson is referring to previous State Of Play conferences that took place in 2020 and 2019 during February.
The rumoured State Of Play could be an important one. Potential trailers for titles like Hogwarts Legacy, God Of War Ragnarok and Final Fantasy 16 may make an appearance. Sifu and Horizon Forbidden West will release in the next few months, so it’s likely we’d get one last big look at those games. There’s also The Last Of Us TV project, and rumoured remake, currently in production, which will both release later this year.
Henderson also reckons there will be another State Of Play later in March. Considering PlayStation recently revealed more info about the PSVR2 headset, it’s likely at least one of the two events will feature a potential release date.
This is conjecture, and could change at any moment. But based on Sony’s previous conferences, and it’s stacked lineup of launches, this event seems pretty likely. Elsewhere, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan recently revealed that the studio has 17 studios working on first-party games for the PS4 and PS5.
