No, Those Photos From The Set Of The Sonic Movie Aren’t Dr. Robotnik

The internet was rocked a couple of months ago when it was announced that the role of  Dr. Robotnik in the upcoming live-action movie of Sonic The Hedgehog would be going to Hollywood veteran and king of comedy, Jim Carrey.

It was confirmed at a panel at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, with Carrey joining the likes of Ben Schwartz (who’s reportedly the voice of Sonic), as well as James Marsden.

Smash-cut to now and the internet has just received brand-new images reportedly from the set thanks to Twitter user, YVRShoots.

According to the Twitter page, the following image shows a very – ahem -unusual-looking Dr. Robotnik/Eggman speaking to James Marsden and obviously the internet had a lot to say.

“Let me guess, this movie is gonna be about a kid living in an ordinary town with a pet hedgehog who accidentally takes drugs and everything around him changes into the green hill zone and his hedgehog turns into Sonic,” one user joked.

Another added: “That’s not Dr. Eggman. That’s Dr. Light!”

Multiple sources began to report the leaked images as real, but thankfully it seems like it’s been disproven by none other than YVRShoots, who’s since removed the original tweet.

After receiving some backlash for the tweet, YVRShoots deleted the image in question and tweeted: “Not Jim Carrey. This is actor Frank C Turner with James Marsden as the Green Hills Sheriff.

“Ladysmith is rife with rumours that Jim Carrey is in town for the shoot but I haven’t seen him yet.”

Sonic fans can breathe a sigh of relief – Dr. Eggman/Robotnik is yet to make an appearance, but this bearded person? Not him!
